Biography
Carrie Thiessen is a transplant surgeon and medical ethicist. Her Ph.D. dissertation assessed the moral implications of third-party harms and benefits of clinical research. She is a member of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network’s Ethics Committee.
Carrie applies normative and empirical methods to analyze ethical and policy issues in transplantation. Her current research explores donors’ preferences for shared decision-making and transplant professionals’ obligations to individuals who are ineligible to become living organ donors.
